Your Role: Autonomy, Expertise, and Growth

We are seeking a driven Senior Advisory Consultant to support Sustainability Reporting & Assurance and Internal Controls related missions. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in delivering sustainability reporting and assurance services, while also supporting clients with internal audit and internal control engagements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality projects in collaboration with managers, including:
  • Agreeing on project timetables, scopes, and deliverables
  • Conducting and reviewing fieldwork for both sustainability and internal control assignments
  • Managing reporting and overall project coordination
  • Review data sets and develop detailed, clear working papers – with the ability to start from a blank page
  • Research and contribute to improvements in sustainability reporting, assurance, and internal control best practices
  • Prepare and review draft reports before submission to senior management
  • Internal Controls Focus:
  • Perform and review internal audit procedures and internal control assessments
  • Evaluate and strengthen clients’ internal control frameworks to ensure compliance and operational efficiency
  • Provide recommendations for process improvements and risk mitigation
  • Sustainability Focus:
  • Work on assurance and support clients in implementing sustainability strategies and integrating ESG considerations into governance and reporting processes on consultancy engagements
  • Business development : Assist in developing business plans, pitches, and client proposals for sustainability and internal control services
  • Work with colleagues across various countries on international projects
  • Build strong relationships with client staff and act as a Mazars ambassador
  • Be flexible for occasional short-term international trave

About you:

  • Education: Master’s degree in Economics, Business Engineering, Engineering, Environmental Science, or Sustainability
  • Experience: 2–3 years of experience in a relevant field such as sustainability reporting, measurement, assurance, or internal audit/internal controls
  • Technical Knowledge:
  • Strong understanding of sustainability reporting frameworks (GRI, Value Reporting Foundation, ISSB)
  • Familiarity with legislative frameworks (NFRD, CSRD, EU Taxonomy)
  • Knowledge of internal control and risk management frameworks (e.g., COSO, ISO standards)
  • Experience with internal audit methodologies and assurance processes
  • Language Skills: Fluency in Dutch or French and English
  • Analytical & Process Skills:
  • Strong observational skills with a love for analysing and optimising processes
  • Ability to start from a blank page and structure clear, detailed working papers
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving mindset
  • Soft Skills:
  • Hands-on and pragmatic approach to solving client challenges
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong client relationships
  • Ability to work collaboratively in international teams
  • Project Management:
  • Strong organisational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to agree on scopes, deliverables, and timetables with stakeholders
  • Attention to Detail:
  • Deliver high-quality work with meticulous accuracy
  • IT Literacy:
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools and digital reporting platforms (an asset)
  • Flexibility:
  • Willingness to travel internationally for short-term assignments
  • Certifications (a plus):
  • CIA, ACCA, or sustainability-related certifications (e.g., GRI Certified, ISSB training)
